Customer Protection

Escrow & Payment Release

This page explains how Build With Me Ghana expects this control to work on the platform. It is written as operational guidance for customers, providers, and support teams.

How escrow works

  • For escrow-backed services, the customer pays through the platform and the vendor portion is held until the required completion controls are satisfied.
  • The customer payment may be split into platform commission and vendor net amount. The vendor net amount is what is held for release to the vendor when the transaction is completed.

Services that commonly use escrow

  • Land and house purchases use escrow because ownership transfer and documentation must be completed.
  • Labour services use escrow because work must be marked complete and confirmed before release.
  • Unique contract services may use escrow where the service scope requires completion evidence and customer confirmation.

Services that do not normally use escrow

  • Building plans and estimates are digital products. After successful purchase, the customer receives access and the vendor wallet is credited according to the active revenue model.
  • Other non-escrow services may still be tracked through orders, wallet events, support tickets, and admin reports.

Release conditions

  • Admin can release escrow only when the service-specific controls are satisfied, such as transfer documentation, uploaded completion evidence, customer confirmation, or applicable admin override rules.
  • If a transaction is disputed, admin reviews the order history, uploaded documents, messages, and evidence before deciding whether to release, refund, or continue holding funds.

Important note

  • Escrow release rules are operational controls inside the platform. They should be supported by the final legal terms, customer agreement, vendor agreement, and payment partner settlement process before live launch.
