Data Privacy Statement

Effective date: 10 August 2026. This Data Privacy Statement explains how Build With Me Ghana collects, uses, stores, shares, protects, and retains personal data. It is prepared with reference to Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

1. Who Controls Your Data

Build With Me Ghana is the platform operator for data collected through the website, dashboards, mobile-ready services, support channels, payment workflows, verification workflows, and project tools. Where a bank, payment service provider, finance house, government agency, NIA IVSP provider, professional vendor, or delivery partner processes data independently, that party may also act as an independent controller or processor under its own legal obligations.

2. Personal Data We May Collect

  • Account data such as name, display name, legal name, email, phone number, password hash, account role, and account status.
  • Identity and KYC data such as Ghana Card number, live selfie, IVSP result, legal name, date of birth, age-eligibility result, admin verification decision, guardian consent record, business registration documents, professional licences, and guarantor relationships.
  • Location data such as region, district, GhanaPost GPS address, address title, shipping address, shop location, property location, map pin, latitude, longitude, and current-location consent result.
  • Transaction data such as orders, wallet entries, escrow records, commissions, payouts, storage fees, delivery fees, home finance repayments, refunds, chargebacks, invoices, and payment references.
  • Property and project data such as land documents, house documents, site plans, verification documents, building plans, estimates, stage completion records, photos, videos, and project collaboration contributions.
  • Provider data such as product listings, material dimensions, inventory, vehicle type, service profile, work portfolio, profile media, service areas, reviews, and fulfilment history.
  • Communication data such as messages, notifications, support tickets, emails, notes, disputes, and feedback.
  • Technical data such as IP address, device/browser details, login activity, cookies, session identifiers, audit logs, and security events.

3. Why We Use Personal Data

  • To create and secure user accounts.
  • To verify identity, user roles, property documents, provider eligibility, guarantor relationships, and compliance status.
  • To process purchases, wallet movements, escrow holds, commissions, storage, delivery, payouts, refunds, and repayments.
  • To match customers with suitable vendors, collection points, delivery professionals, labourers, finance houses, and verification controls.
  • To calculate distance, proximity, delivery assignment, operational zone eligibility, and service availability.
  • To provide dashboards, project tools, collaboration tools, notifications, email alerts, support, reporting, audit trails, and dispute handling.
  • To detect fraud, prevent abuse, enforce terms, protect platform users, meet legal obligations, and respond to lawful requests.
  • To improve platform performance, product quality, service design, reporting, and operational planning.

4. Legal Basis and Consent

We process personal data where it is necessary to provide requested services, perform a contract, comply with legal obligations, protect legitimate platform interests, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or where the user has given consent. Sensitive verification and live-location actions may require a specific prompt or consent step before processing.

5. When We Share Data

Build With Me Ghana may share only the information reasonably required for the relevant service with:

  • Vendors, customers, collection points, delivery professionals, labourers, unique contract providers, architects, quantity surveyors, and home essentials vendors involved in a transaction.
  • Banks, mobile money operators, payment service providers, settlement partners, payout partners, and finance houses.
  • Verification partners, NIA IVSP providers, Lands Commission-related service channels, survey and mapping support, planning/zoning reviewers, court/litigation search support, traditional authority verification support, and physical inspection teams where applicable.
  • Professional advisers, auditors, insurers, legal advisers, regulators, law enforcement, or courts where required or reasonably necessary.
  • Technology providers that host, secure, analyse, email, back up, or operate the platform under appropriate confidentiality and security controls.

6. Wallet, Payment, and Bank Data

Payment and payout partners may process bank account, mobile money, card, wallet, transaction reference, and settlement data. Build With Me Ghana does not store full payment-card details; card entry and processing are handled by the configured payment provider. Where account-name validation is provided by a bank or payment partner, the returned account name may be used for payout verification and fraud prevention.

7. Location and GhanaPost GPS Data

Location data helps match orders to nearby collection points, delivery professionals, property locations, shops, and operational zones. Users may provide GhanaPost GPS address, map pin, or current-location permission where available. Live/current location is used for the requested action and should not be used for unrelated tracking unless a separate notice and consent is provided.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The platform may use cookies and similar technologies for login sessions, security, language, location preference, cart functionality, analytics, performance, and user experience. Users may control cookies through their browser, but some platform functions may not work properly if essential cookies are disabled.

9. Data Security

Build With Me Ghana applies role-based access, admin permissions, audit logs, account controls, secure upload handling, and operational review controls. No online platform can guarantee absolute security, so users must protect their passwords, report suspicious activity, and avoid sharing sensitive documents outside approved workflows.

10. Data Retention

We retain data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, keep transaction records, comply with legal and tax obligations, support audits, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and maintain property, home finance, escrow, wallet, and project records. Some records may need to be retained after account closure because of legal, financial, or dispute-resolution obligations.

11. User Rights

Subject to applicable law, users may request access, correction, update, restriction, objection, deletion where lawful, or a copy of personal data held by the platform. Some requests may be limited where data must be retained for legal, financial, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution reasons.

12. Children and Guardian Consent

Where verified date-of-birth information shows that a user is below 18, the account is placed in the platform's minor workflow. The user must nominate a parent or guardian, and the guardian must authenticate or create an account, review the request, and give consent before restricted services become available. The platform records consent, withdrawal, co-approval decisions, and the user's transition to adult status. Guardian access is limited to the minor-related permissions and information needed for that responsibility.

13. International Hosting and Transfers

The platform may use hosting, email, security, backup, or support providers whose infrastructure is located outside Ghana. Where personal data is transferred or remotely accessed outside Ghana, Build With Me Ghana applies contractual, access-control, confidentiality, security, and vendor-review safeguards appropriate to the service and applicable law.

14. Changes to This Statement

Build With Me Ghana may update this statement as services, laws, partners, and platform controls change. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.

15. Contact and Complaints

Privacy questions, correction requests, or data complaints should be submitted through the Help Center or official Build With Me Ghana contact channels. Users may also have the right to contact the Data Protection Commission of Ghana where applicable.
